Application

How to process

Required Document:

1. Supporting document(s) or declaration(s)(020/SAL) to identify the relationship between the applicant and the deceased person;
2. Supporting document(s) on burial;
3. A legible photocopy of identity document of the applicant.
Optional documents for submission (required to submit if applicable):
1. Should the applicants require IACM to provide exhumation service, they have to fill in and submit the application form for exhumation service.
2. If exhumed by funeral Services Company, it is necessary to fill in the declaration of the funeral and construction work (021/SAL), and also provide the legible photocopy of identity document of the proprietor of the funeral Services Company.

Fees

Application fee:

1. Exhumation Permit (intend to bury the human remains in public cemeteries): Mop 50.00
or Exhumation and Immediate Removal of the Exhumed Remains from the Cemetery (intend to remove the exhumed remains from the public cemetery) Mop 100.00
2. Provision of Exhumation Service (optional) Mop 2500.00
Form fee: Not Applicable
Stamp Duty: The exhumation service does not incur any stamp duty. The rest of the provided services incurs a charge equivalent to 10% of the application fee
Deposit: Not Applicable

Processing time: 3 working days


Remarks/ points to note for application

Important note:

1. The applicants are required to process the respective application for exhumation at the Department of Environment, Hygiene and Licensing 6 days prior to the desired date for exhumation. Then they have to contact the responsible person of the public cemetery to schedule a specific time and date for the exhumation. The dead body of the deceased must be buried for 7 years before exhumation;
2. IACM could exempt the applicants from payment of the respective fee upon their request and provision of proofs that they are financially incapable of paying;
3. If the current exhumation fails, it shall be repeated one year after. The applicants are required to pay the respective fee once again after the expiry date;
4. If the exhumation service is rendered by IACM, the paid fees shall not be refunded if the exhumation failed;
5. For relocation of human remains out of Macao, the applicants are required to apply for the Permit for Relocation of Human Remains from the Health Bureau.
