Proper tea wares are important for brewing a pot of fine tea. Taking a retrospective look into the history of China, a lidded globular crock with a narrow opening molded out of clay was the earliest tea ware. It was kind of a prototype of tea ware with a coarse texture. In the Western Han dynasty, glazed tea ware came to exist. Different tea wares of smooth glossy tinge glazed in vibrant colors were abundant. The art of tea ware began to take shape and became more and more sophisticated as time went by. Along the historic timeline, Zisha tea ware turned out to be the most far-famed because of its subtle coloration, classic beauty, durable nature and was favored by many people. The high porosity and strong absorbency of Zisha tea ware were best for preserving the fragrance and bringing out the savor of tea. The inauguration of the Macao Tea Culture House on 1 June was followed by the “ Exhibition of Tea ware Collection of Chui Chi Hin . This venue is run by IACM and lately IACM has jointly organized the “ Exhibition on Chinese Tea Ware from the Past Dynasties ” with the Guangzhou Museum, in which 60 sets of tea ware from the Guangzhou Museum will be displayed. The unique pieces are distinguished works collected from the past 2000 years, dated from the Han dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty and early Republican period. Date: 14/10/2005 – 29/02/2006 |
